Concerts at the 2016 Class

These concerts are open to the public.

Tuesday, July 5, 7:00 PM
Makawao Union Church
1445 Baldwin Ave., 2.5 miles up from Paia Town
Benjamin Verdery, David Leisner, Ian O’Sullivan, and Simon Powis will perform a special concert to open the week. Suggested donation is $10, with proceeds benefitting the Boys & Girls Clubs of Maui, Makawao Clubhouse. The program will include compositions by Verdery, Leisner, O’Sullivan, Ginastera, Mertz and others.

UH Maui College, ‘Ike Le‘a Lecture Theatre, Room 144
Reception following
Oahu-based guitarists Ian O’Sullivan, and Stephan Kane, and the young San Francisco guitarists Nicholas Padmanabhan (age 15) and Conor Padmanabhan (age 13), will perform a free concert at Maui College in Kahului. The program will include music by Bach, Villa-Lobos, and Giuliani, and will feature original compositions by Ian O’Sullivan from his new CD, Songs for the North Shore.

St. John’s Episcopal Church

A free concert featuring performers from the class. Husband-and-wife duo John Olson and Gioia De Cari will perform Eve's Diary, a new piece for guitar and soprano by David Leisner, based on texts by Mark Twain; guitarist Ben Werdegar will perform Carlo Domeniconi's Koyunbaba; and guitarist John Bogan will perform music by Ponce, Johanson, and Legnani.

Class participants will perform a free concert with solo performances and pieces for guitar orchestra conducted by Mr. Verdery and Mr. O’Sullivan.
